1.26 Death
Have you ever sat and contemplated the end?
Have you ever taken the time to consider what it would be like to be no more?
Is there anything beyond? Is it horrendous? Is it blissful?
What if there is nothing? Then what is the point? What has it all been for?
After the final breath, will the world shed a tear?
Do we simply pass unnoticed? Ignored?
Will people stop and stand, reflecting on what has passed?
Or would they go about their daily activities, uncaring?
Does darkness consume all? Does the light fade?
Do the colours grow fainter and disappear?
What happens to the fragrant flowers and buzzing bees?
Does everything crimple into the abominable abyss of time?
Is death a void? Is it a chasm of emptiness, stretching into eternity?
My mortal remains are to be consumed, but what of my spiritual self?
Will we all fade out of life and memory? How long will our legacy stand?
Is there nothing that we can do? Is there no answer?
