2.23 The beauty of silence
With a future that holds many different paths, a moment of calm is something wonderful,
Everyday holds some form of hustle and bustle, it is nice to escape every now and then.
There are days that I love to be surrounded by noise and people who all want to share my journey,
However, there are times when it is not welcomed, and that moment alone is so desirable.
Sat alone with nothing and no one nearby, be it at home or in the corner of a bar with a pen and paper,
Collecting one’s thoughts and being able to process the hectic momentum of our lives is bliss.
It is from these moments that we choose to continue the paths we are on, or even to change direction,
For if we do not bask in the beauty of silence, we may stay on a path too long and become lost.
Sadly, life does not come with satellite navigation or a handy map that shows us the paths,
We have to sit long and hard and work out where we want to go and how it is that we get there.
Even when we bask in the beauty of silence, we may not always get it right, but that is half the fun,
Life is an amazing web of mistakes and falls, from each that we learn, develop and grow.
But today I do not want to think about the future paths or what has already come to pass,
This is a moment when I can sit down and be with myself, without pressure surrounding me.
Moments like these should be commonplace, however I find them too far and few between,
Taking it all in, that sound, the sound of nothing is something quite special in itself.
I adore sound, concerts, the tingle from emotive music, yet it cannot match the beauty of silence,
Conversation is stimulating and riveting, however it doesn’t offer the same beauty as silence.
Nature at its height is full of wonder and majesty, sadly it cannot compare to the beauty of silence,
If there is one thing that I am trying to paint is that silence is beautiful and should not be masked.
