2.29 Banishing labels
It has always been a great mystery to me of how labels in a modern world can be so easily applied,
Colour, race, gender, sexuality, age and many more labels dished often with an intent that is snide.
Love is a precious right that inspires and encourages us to be strong and to fight away our fears,
Placing a label so cruel and thoughtless causes pain that is untold and leaves a trail of tears.
Some people can't seem to find strength to deal with these labels, forcing them to cry and hide.
When hands of two people lock together, it brings a huge degree of warmth and comfort,
Yet intimidation linked to these disgraceful labels makes this harder, but love will not distort.
Men and men, women and women, white and black people should stand together with pride,
Together we can overcome the taunts, the fists that hurtle at us, too many for too long have cried.
Strength, understanding and community can destroy these labels, giving us all that we need for support.
Shame is a label I have many times applied to myself for your hate of me was overpowering and strong,
In a world so modern and accepting, your views so spiteful began to make me feel that I did not belong.
Weak and shattered I found myself on my knees, your victory of destroying me nearly complete,
Love is colour blind to your hate, and it has been this that has shown me that it is you we will beat.
We will continue to march, relearn how to smile and stand strong until the whole world hears our song.
Through our love and support of each other in an imperfect perfect world we will become invincible,
Finding strength to help the weaker of our community to also stand strong and be no longer invisible.
A modern revolution of love will make us teach you that we too are normal, now standing tall,
Love will scrape away your labels, love will bond us together and no more will we cry and fall.
Never hide or walk away from love, stand together, feel love, banish labels and stand with principle.
