2.3 Times gone by
This time of the year we all hold memories of snowflakes falling from the sky,
Snow so cold and white, deep and continually falling, becoming so high.
Yet this year no snowflakes fall, no snow builds, nothing but frost.
But for as long as we hold our memories and have each other, all is not lost.
Those sweet recollections of times gone by will ensure our spirits never die.
No money in the bank, no decorations to fill our home, no presents under an absent tree,
One would expect morale to be low and despair to be evident, yet there is only glee.
This year I have the one I love next to me, in my arms and sleeping by my side,
Material items are pleasant and joyful, but we are together for a lifelong ride.
If those who felt low could only realise what is around them, then maybe they would see.
Christmas time is not about who can spend the most amount of money,
It is about love and caring, sweeter than all of the world's sweetest honey.
If the heat goes out, I have you to hold, cuddle and reassure me,
Letting each other know plans of happiness, the future and all to be.
Our spirits forever uplifted, no matter how poor or cold, even whilst noses runny.
So, this year and this Christmas, let us recall all of those times gone by,
Let your spirits rise up and, on this journey, let us sail high and fly.
I love you with all of my heart and soul at this very special time of the year,
Remembering the Saviour and what he gave so our lives could be filled with cheer.
Our memories will hold us together as we make new ones so times gone by may never die.
