3.17 Changing the world with a smile
How many times have you given pause and true thought to other people as we go through life?
Not everyone lives in comfort and joy. But we do hold the power to help those living in strife.
Have you considered how many people the person you passed will interact with in the whole day?
That person may have come from an empty home where loneliness cannot be kept at bay.
They will return to that lonely house where the emptiness consumes all and cuts deep like a knife.
But we all hold a secret, we all have a kindness within that we often overlook and mostly forget,
Small acts of kindness can be so easily offered that it is not something the giver will ever regret.
It is something so small and impactful that can quite literally change the course of an entire day,
For some it won’t just change their day, but their life too. Leaving a lasting positive impression to stay.
This small, simple, and powerful act can be performed by anyone without even breaking a sweat.
The change you can do is nothing crazy, complex or difficult. It is only a small curvature of the lips.
A motion that fills the recipient with warmth and positivity that nothing can shadow or eclipse.
No one would want to become or feel isolated, nor wish that upon someone that they love,
Yet this can be quashed with a simple action, as simple as slipping on a warming and cosy glove.
Preparation is not needed, just curve up those lips. There is no need for any crazy scripts.
Next time you open your door and catch the eye of a neighbour, stranger or simple passerby,
Do something amazing, give your best smile and an uncomplicated nod, it is so simple to try.
Acts of kindness need not be performed for any form of reward or to obtain any personal gain,
They are done to do what is right and elevate someone from any possibility of mental pain.
We need not make them awkward and into any embarrassing details we need not pry.
What is a smile other than something that expends no real effort but has a power untold?
Is it something to ignore and let pass us by or do we unleash the smile and let its power unfold?
We all hold the power to change the world, it really is not hard and this much is ever so true.
Pay heed, listen, and do something right. Flash a smile as sweet as the fresh morning dew.
A smile is welcome across all nations and people, from the extremely young to the very old.
